SERHI Biography
Scepo Nikcevic aka Dj Serhi was born in a small town named Niksic/Montenegro. Despite the fact that he was born in a small town without any perspective and potential for E-music Serhi managed to clear a way for techno. Music was always a big passion of Serhi and he has been into music as long as he can remember. At the beginning of his musical career Serhi was introduced to instruments such as drums. In elementary school he plays drums and not much later he gets interested in keyboards and synthesized sound. In the world of electronic music he entered very early, at the age of 11.Thanx to his brother who in 1993 moved to Detroit Serhi got his first CDs of artists such as Jeff Mills, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Mike Banks and other well-known artists connected with that trend who absorbed him in the electronic dimension. Serhi was quickly impressed and intrigued with this new sound. As time was passing his interest in this kind of music went bigger and bigger and he became interested in more aggressive style which become techno with more rhythm and harder bass drums. Although much different from music that was popular and played on radio and TV stations in his country he managed to find a way to stay informed and to keep his interest for e-music. At the age of 17 he started to visit all bigger events and quickly released that he wants to participate in more active way. Just going on the parties wasn’t good enough for him any more. So, in the community full of prejudice, where the mainstream is far from quality Serhi begins fight for popularization his way of music. With 18 he had his first gigs on smaller events and from private parties where he started sharing his music passion to the audience, through local happenings to become resident dj in local club. Serhi began to organize his own techno parties in his home town and later, with his friends from AM organization, “RADIOACTIVE” parties across the country. With his sets, positive attitude and huge energy for very short time he managed to introduce his style to people and they loved it. Although his sound is far from mainstream, he easily takes them into his world. Serhi’s style is unique in many ways and can be described as dark, hard, experimental moving, intense, melodic, atmospheric, twisted and full of energy kicking techno style. Style that he plays depends on the atmosphere of the party. It varies from energetic minimal, groovy and melodic sounds over dark/experimental techno to hard techno always combining various styles and keeps the attention of the audience..At the moment he is also experimenting with Live act,trying to express himself in a more creative way. But however hard and aggressive his sets are there is always rhythm and structure to ensure dancefloor compatibility. In 2005 with two friends, Proximus and Tim Costella, he started a project “Active Music” in order to fulfill the need to share his passion for this music. Active Music is first techno organization in his republic and the main goal is popularization of techno style. In 2006 started project Pro Active. Serhi is on the final year of Law Faculty studies and Philosophical Faculty (Department of Linguistics), after he finishes these studies he plans to study music production and to concentrate more on his tracks and on starting his own label. He is young, perspective and very inspiring DJ, a DJ who understands how to connect his music with the people on the dance floor and he is one of those new generation artists who are definitively recommended to pay attention on in the future.
