ROMAN MOJICA began his DJ career playing a series of private parties. He got his big break in May 2000 when he performed in the amateur night of SevenEightOrange (simply known as ORANGE). It was Manila’s best club at the time, run by some of the top movers in the music industry… among them were DJs Nikki Jurado, Anthony Keirulf, Robert Villaluz and drummer Junboy Leonor of THE DAWN (who were the pioneers of the Manila Indie Music scene). After a month of successful gigs at ORANGE, WHERELSE and MASyMAS, he was asked to join NBK (Natural Born Klubbers). During his stint with NBK, he had his chance to play to large stadium audiences like the events LA SALLE UNDERGROUND at La Salle, Greenhills and SPINSTRUCK at Assumption, Makati. He also got his chance to perform alongside the worlds best like Dj Touche, James Lavelle, Sasha, Dj Jurgen and Jimmy Van M. He got to tour the country with gigs at HEY JUDE (Boracay), CLUB FUEL (Cebu), VEGA (Ilo-Ilo), AZULE (Bacolod), NORTH (Bacolod) and BEACHCOMBER (Boracay). From 2001-2002, he produced versus remixes of some of the essential tunes in his playlist. Some of these were Big Love Underground – Pete Heller vs. Celeda; A Karma of Halcyon – Chicane vs. Tarrantella; True Airwave (Vocal Dub) – Rank 1 vs. Kylie Minogue; and Everytime Above The Clouds – Amber vs. 2 Rhythm. After Orange had its farewell party in New Year 2003, he joined CONSPIRACY with Orange top Resident DJ Kevin Ruiz. During the short 1 year existence of Conspiracy, Roman performed regularly at the best Makati establishments like ABSINTH, TEMPLE BAR, BED and PONTICELLO. From 2002-2005, Roman did weekend gigs at MAESTRO LOUNGE, BAR42, GREEN PLANET, BORA BAR (now called BAMBOO LOUNGE), MATI, HALO and guest stints at the NBC Tent, EMBASSY Super Club, V-BAR, MDC (Manila DJ Club), PASEO UNO, AZZURRO, BED, PELIGRO (now called THE HOLE), PONANA, CENTRO, ZENO BAR and JONY’S (Boracay). In 2005, Roman was nominated at the first Nocturnal Awards as Manila’s Favorite DJ and produced the white label, Deep Dish vs. Orbital – Flashing At The Beach. In 2006, he opened for DJ Behrouz of Renaissance/Yoshitoshi where Roman played his current sound of Electro House and Breakbeat. In 2007, you can find him playing for Driven Manila at WAREHOUSE 135. They just opened their doors last February and have already brought in the likes of Deep Dish, Satoshi Tomiie, Steve Porter and Lee Burridge to name a few. Roman earned his second Nocturnal Awards nomination last September again as Manila’s Favorite DJ.
