OSCAR VELAZQUEZ Biography
He started his career as an amateur disc jockey in 1984. He was first influenced by the sounds of bands such as Ultravox, Culture Club, New Order, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Prince & the Revolution, the Breakfast Club, Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran, the Police, etc. By the end of the 80s, he gets to know a gender called High Energy where producers such as Divine, Patrick Cowley, the Flirts, and Stacey Q., used to rock people in massive underground events in Mexico City. Back in 1990, he gained his residence as a professional DJ in a night club. Thus far, hes worked in more than 40 different night clubs not only in Mexico City but all around the country. Hes worked in places such as Magazine Club(1991), La Academia(1994), Fat Tuesday Cuernavaca (1992), Passage(1994), Pervert Lounge(1995), Penelope Mix Club(1999), Club Living Roma(2002), Bar Ixchel (1993), La Boom Club Cancun(2002), Club Mekano Zona Rosa(1994), Blush Club(2001), Club Balcones Puerto Vallarta(2000)All these places have been real icons in Mexicos night life and clubbing and Oscar has been a resident DJ in all of them. His background both as a DJ and as a producer has led him to share the stage and the cabin with personalities both local and from around the globe such as Andres Mijangos, Richard F, Eddie Amador (mochico), Johnny Vicious (nyc), mtvs star dj Skribble, Martin Parra, dj Chrysler, Benji Solis, Joy Marquez, Rosabel (ralphi rosario & abel aguilera), Chris Cox, Tom Stephan (superchumbo), Tracy Young, Tony Moran, David Morales, dj Mark Anthony (Canada), Barry Harris (NYC), Erich Ensastigue, Billy Carroll (NYC), Satoshi Tomiie, Paul van Dyk, Brian Transeau (bt), Ramiro Puente, Marcelo Ccastelli, Manny Lehman (NYC), Warren Guck (NYC), Edgar Velazquez, Miguel Alanis, Cary Stringfellow, dj Klang and many others. Back in January 2005, OSCAR VELAZQUEZ was invited to become a staff member in a Mexico citys radio station named BEAT 100.9 FM (beat1009.com.mx ). This radio station was the first one in the country to program electronic music exclusively. Here, as the promos recall, Oscar catapults radio listeners to the dance floor without leaving home. His weekly 2 hour broadcast, club diez cero nueve (club10/09), is dedicated to show his ability both as a DJ and as a producer. This broadcast has been on the air back to back with Roger Sanchezs Release yourself for over a year. In the meantime, other producers such as John Digweed (transitions), Armin van Bureen (a state of trance) & Carl Cox (global) share the microfone with him. Being a Resident DJ in this radio station, and due to his professional background, Oscars career skyrocketed. From then on,. He was constantly asked to be on stage for DJ sets throughout the country during 2005. As a matter of fact, he had as many as 180 events then. During that year, he was hired in places such as: parking monterrey, barcelona queretaro, biza club leon guanajuato, balcones club puerto vallarta, bpm lounge mexico df, monicas disco guadalajara, colmillo bar mexico df, blue parrot playa del carmen, pool parties in cuernavaca,queretaro & mexico City with non-stop 24 hour events as well as private events all around Mexico City. In 2006, he was nominated for an award for Best Revelation by DJ Concept Magazine. Also, he was invited to participate as the official DJ for collective rosters, booking agencies and record labels such as Supernova records, electrospace booking, south djs colective and evoluxions mexico. In the meantime, his live performances in Mexico City have increased throughout the year in clubs such as continental dj club, underground afterhours, dobby club mexico df, k-ma vip mexico df and others in the city suburbs. Hes also been chosen as resident DJ in places such as crazy bar in Mexico City, backstage club in Toluca and circus club in guadalajara, among others. Right now, Oscar has become one of the most influential producers and DJs in the electronic music arena, having weekly performances both in radio station and live sets, being in touch with other great performers and becoming an essential piece in Mexicos night life.
