MATT PURKIS Biography
Language: EnglishBorn and raised in west London, Matt’s first instrument was a Casio keyboard at the noisy age of eight years old. Not one for conforming he was always listening to music instead of doing school work. Matt took influences form the earlier days of electronic music pioneers such as Colin Dale, Colin Faver and Carl Cox, “One of the earliest electronic tracks i remember was ‘The Age Of Love’” being played by Colin Faver on The Outer Limits on Kiss 100 Fm". Not long after Matt spent a lot of time at some of London greatest underground clubs such as Strawberry Sundaes @ Cloud Nine, and also Club UK.
All these years have had a massive impact on Matt’s style of performance. Heavily taking influence from the Ibiza music scene and the likes of Deadmau5 and Richie Hawtin. Again not conforming to the norm and using the same equipment as everyone else such as Pioneer CDJ’s Matt now uses some of the most state of the art equipment to perform with such as the XONE 4D midi controller with Traktor Pro and the new Novation Launchpad with Ableton Live. With these being tried and tested pieces of equipment the possibilities are endless and this certainly show is his versatile music styles.
His latest project “Reamplified” aims to bring live music control to the forefront of music again. “Seeing what you can do using tools like these is what i love doing and performing with” Reamplified will be officially launched in Brighton at a venue to be announced later this year.
