Language: EnglishLeo Veil is one of those rare DJ that stick you up and perfectly holds your attention as soon as he gets behind the decks. He’s got something deep inside that guides him to spin music just as a maestro wizard would do ! It is not magic, It’s music culture.
Born in Morocco, Leo instantly grabbed not only this unique sens of rythm moroccans do have but also the funky fever of his father. At the age of 6 he spent nights and nights listening to those old poppy funk & soul records his father’s used to hide in the main room’s closet. Early Influced by legends like Betty harris, Rufus Thomas, Marvin Gaye, The supremes, Otis Clay, Dionne Warwiwk, Betty Everett, James Brown etc… Leo got automatically lead to play funky electro tracks.
Leo (that’s the way his friends call him) defines himself a very determined and stubborn person and his motto is ‘Where there is a will there is a way’. After 6 years of playing in every renowned club in Morocco : Amnesia (Rabat), Le Loft (Tanger), Space (Tetouan), Platinium (Skhirat), La Joya (Casablanca), Palma (Casablanca), Amnesia Beach (Tetouan), Library (Ifrane) & Papagayo (Agadir) to name a few… he’s still on the run and considers this as a begining for his international break.
2007 was a massive year for Leo Veil with the residency at Platinium every monday, the huge set infront of more than 10.000 people in Essaouira and his podcast (The Veil’s Cast) that faces uncountable downloads on itunes.
After sharing the booth with several International Djs such as : Antoine Clamaran, Axwell, Marc Hughes, Ivan Pica, Eddie Thoneick, Rune RK, DJ Ralph etc… and influenced by producers like: Funkagenda, Mark Knight, Eddie Thoneick & Patric La funk, Leo Veil jumps into production with a concrete talent and sincere will !
Leo Veil is actually ranked 2nd Best DJ in Morocco (thedjlist.com) and Whatever 2007 & 2008 holds for Leo this is surely only the shape of things to come.
