KJ Biography
Kevin “KJ” Shiver Through the years he has worked clubs around the country and then, landing a ten-year residency ‘with Crown Leisure Corporation, who managed and owned “JJ Whispers” a premier nightclub in Orlando fl that hosted the XL106.7 Throw down (mixx show) About 1986 KJ befriended several future groups such as Linear and Steve B. and started picking up production tips and equipment. From here he started getting into producing for himself and by 1990 he had is first release (Project 5’ “The new style” and LSD User). That group and the subsequent group put out records and he learned from those ventures how to correctly promote and market his material. K5 was formed in 1995, after KJ was looking for a new name to fit his newest creation, “Passion.” He took the K from KJ and 5 from his previous group Project 5, and presto K5 was born “K5” is also the classification for the ‘brightest stars’ in astronomy. K5 was signed to Robbins Entertainment/BMG for the U.S. and ISBA Records for Canada, and Formaldehyde/Mercury Records & Universal Records Germany. The single for “Passion” went on to sell more than 200,000 copies worldwide. And collectively on all movie soundtracks & licensing over one and a half million sales were made.
