JEFR TALE Biography
Out of nowhere comes Jefr Tale. His current mix series Club Tales is a frequent download at top DJ sites. As he says, Its all about bass and growl, one part tech house and another sound others are not playing. Yelled by burners at Burning Man 06, We love your dirty house. Club Tales is showcased every Sunday night at midnight on Sirius Satellite Radio on channel Area 33.
Yet this is not a new deejay, Jefr spins a story that spans over 25 years. He started playing Parliament style funk in the early 80s. Jefr grew up playing Chicago and Florida house and worked long term residencies in his hometown at two large Boston clubs: Metro/Citi (now Avalon) and The Palace (11 years).
Little known facts about Jefr Tale. Jefr is his high school nickname and a Tale is both a play on his last name and a story. His real name is Jeff Taylor founder and CEO of the hugely popular Monster.com and, since September 05, founder and CEO of Eons.com (a baby boomer portal). He is often heard to say that his real job is DJing everything else is just for fun.
Beyond his local residencies, Jefr has guest DJed in Vegas, Sidney, Dublin, Amsterdam, as well as regular guest spots in Boston clubs: Mercury Bar, Venu, and Gypsy Bar.
The Sirius Radio music programming team invited Jefr to mix a weekly show in the Summer 05. Recently celebrating his 50th mix show with his Saturday night Burning Man set.
Jefr likes to break the traditional music genre traps, drawing from: minimal, tribal, electro, rock, tech, old school & breaks, and currently feels the labeling of dance music into micro genres is totally getting in the way of dance musics progression.
With an extensive vinyl collection in tow, Jefr has gone kicking and screaming into the Ableton Live/Final Scratch laptop world, downloading instead of hunting the world for vinyl (black crack!)
Desert music defines his sound. Burning Man, over the last four years, has been the venue thats most influenced Jefrs Dirty House sets. Jefr is the creator and force behind the big dome/tipi theme camp Root Society (rootsociety.org), where thousands partied this past Labor Day at Burning Man 06.
