ILKO Biography
DJ Ilko is performing artist and producer, born in Sofia. Ilko has strong musical background, his brother was a bass player for numerous rock bands and Ilko himself played the piano for years. DJ Ilko was one of the first DJs in Bulgaria and pioneered the techno movement, playing with Jeff Mills, Christian Smith, Takkyu Ishino and Marco Carola among others.
After the millenium Ilko was heavily influenced by house music and developed a style on his own, groovy-funky-deep-sexy house.
Since 1999 he started working with R.D.C. (Relaxator’s Dance Company � www.relaxators.com) and in 2000 Ilko and a group of friends started promoting parties under the name of “Tochka High Technology” with Nathan Coles, Asad Rizvi, Paul Soul, Patrick Turner, DJ Ali, DJ Corrie, Hipp-e, Halo, Kevin Yost.
In their studio “Tochka” Ilko created his first tracks, released for the leading Bulgarian lifestyle magazine AZ. In studio Ilko have worked with Bulgarian pop-stars like Maria Ilieva (www.mariailieva.com), Karizma (http://karizma.hit.bg/), Mariana Popova (www.marianapopova.com), Irina Florin, Stoian Yankulov and Elica (www.stoyankoulov.com) and made club remixes for all of them.
In january of 2006 Ilko released a track on vinyl for first Bulgarian label “Remixator Records” – “Hypnodrum – Bratetz Nosi (DJ Ilko Remix)”(www.sweet-n-low.de) .
Ilko also made a track “Sunday night” featured in first Bulgarian lounge CD “Relaxator’s Opera:tion Lounge” vol.1 for the same label.
In april of 2006 started a new project ,named “Tri 0 Five” with members: DJ Ilko, Deso-sax,keyboard and Michael -vocal. The trio played live gigs in most popular house clubs ahd festivals in Bulgaria. Their first fortcoming release will be out soon with Bah Samba’s remix of their track “Pure Groove”. Besides playing in all top clubs in Bulgaria as Chervilo, Yalta, Livehouse, Sugar, Black Box, Plazma, Comix, Roxy, DJ Ilko travels with his last gigs Agrinio (Greece), Bitola (Macedonia), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Cannes (France), Georgia, Russia.
