Biography
Language: EnglishUnder the labels of Tek-NiCiaNz and Playback, Funkomunky better known as Cheong but some called him Tribal Gladiator among his entourage, is one of the fastest growing talent in the ever expanding Malaysian dance music scene.
Being brought up in a constant music environment, Funkomunky focused himself towards the dance music community at the beginning of the century, taking his inspiration from world acclaimed artists such as Mario Ochoa, Dj Fist, DJ Chus, Antoine Clamaran, Nick Terranova, Eric Entrena to name a few
Since his involvement in the industry, Funkomunky has caught the ears of respected party promoters, whom gave him the opportunity to display his unique skills. Give him half a chance behind the decks, the floor will be mesmerized and torn by his sexy dark and dirty yet funky house music laced with percussion. Funkomunky feels that tribal can make people find themselves in the dancefloor going from smooth tribal house to progressive tribal, and he wants to create back tribal culture, in Malaysia which long lost as in the world, a scene like the psy trance scene where people can congregate to listen smooth and hard beats.
His trademark blend of exquisite sound opened him the doors to DJ in Cure, the notorious after party club that had lots of review from Malaysia to Singapore circuit.
Never loosing his goal from sight , he then move on to perform at some of the most respected venues in KL, from Sensuous at LaQueen ,Sessions at Loft,Zouk ,the 50 hours non stop outdoor Rave: TRANSIT to the latest clubbers -? Playground in Kuala Lumpur club land: Maison the club.
Funkomunky also behind a DJ band, called P.O.C aka People of Cure which contains two others djs, UNN and Junior Garces. This group is making a big wave in Kuala Lumpur dance scene having gigs that fill party crowd with their vibe.
Funkomunky is without a doubt Kuala Lumpurs most iconic uprising DJ.
