Biography

David first got interested in music, when Paul, his brother started guitar lessons at his primary school (St. Bernadettes). His father (Barrie) also played acoustic guitar which interested Paul. David enjoyed the guitar music and wanted to have lessons too. At the age of 7, he was given a small acoustic guitar to play on, he practised with that and had guitar lessons with the same teacher as Paul.

A year after practising on the acoustic guitar, he was given a small Rockwood Electric guitar and a Yamaha keyboard. He progressed with the electric guitar and started writing music at around the age of 8 and half.

At the age of 10 he had outgrown his small guitar and was given a Vintage copy of the Fender Squire. He carried on writing music in chords as well as lyrics. But then discoverd that he could also do backing tracks on the keyboard while playing the guitar.

David used to tape his songs onto the cassette tape using his portable Alba cd/cassette/radio stereo player. He then started to use different ways of recording his tracks. David had keyboard lessons at the Midland’s Music Academy in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton at the age of 12. He was given a Yamaha PSR282 keyboard as a gift.

Using the PSR282, he wrote many different songs and had them scatterd on sheets of paper, all over the floor, folders and in books. His mother (Georgina) had to keep tidying the writing papers as he was continually writing music. David quitted his keyboard lessons at around the age of 13 and took a break in playing music and started producing music on softwares such as TOTP Mix Factory 2.

At his Secondary School, (Ounsdale High School) in year 10, at the age of 14 he started a GCSE course in Music taught by Mr.Griffin. He was then again being taught keyboard by a teacher called Mr.Hipkiss. He achieved a Grade C in GCSE Music.

After leaving his High School, he went and studied I.T for two years at Stourbridge College. In his background life away from college, he started producing music on eJay and Magix Music Maker. Using Magix, he relealised he could cut up tracks already made, and make loops out of them and make a whole new edit of the track. He had been doing this for two years through out the years spent at Stourbridge College.

After leaving Stourbridge College, he then went to study Music Technology at Kidderminster College at the age of 18, attended from September 2006. His teacher, Darren Bayton, former member of Pink Bomb taught him how to produce on Cubase.

David was very impressed by the music Darren had produced. It made David keen to produce similar sounds.

David not only learned how to produce music on Cubase, he also learned how to DJ; taught by Darren, and with help from his college friends Ben and Sam.

David got better in producing music and teamed up with Ben Hunt forming Bodybeat Progression. In October, Dave and Ben produced their very first track, titled ‘Trick On You’ TOY for short. The track was produced in Ben’s bedroom on his Dell Laptop using a midi keyboard, his stereo speakers and Cubase software. They used the VST instrument called ‘Predator’. As in the synthesizer vst, you could make your own sounds and save the presets. This was one of Ben’s presets he made. When Ben told Dave he could play around on his laptop while he went for dinner downstairs, David keyed in some notes and repeated it with some beats. Ben came back upstairs and loved the tune so much, David and Ben’s eyes were on the screen all night, producing the track. After finishing the track around the end of Ocotober, Dave and Ben showed this track to Darren. Darren loved it so much, he signed it onto his label, Digital Insomnia Recordings Ltd. This was the start of success for David.

During college, David was given two Guitars, an electro acoustic guitar and an electric SG style guitar.

In the second year still signed to Digital Insomnia Recordings Ltd, he hade made remixes for orther artists on the label. He met so many other DJs and producers on the internet as well as at Kidderminster College. As Dave got into DJing and recording, with his parents help, he bought CD Decks, Vinyl Decks, Vinyls, Dance CDs, Microphones, New PC, New Laptop, Sample CDS, Softwares. With this equipment he could start producing music and DJing and guess what? He did!! He had DJ mixes on Chicago’s internet radio (ODU.FM), djsinthemix.net, club-ignition.org, and many other websites.

After Kidderminster College, he then went to study (BA Hons.) Urban & Electronic Music Production at Solent Southampton University. This is when Dave moved away from his parents and started to live on his own away from his family and friends back home. Luckily enough, he could still contact them through myspace.com, facebook.com and by phone.

David then started being taught Logic Pro at the University by Ashley Slater, former member of Freak Power.

He left University after and worked for M2 Nightclub in Kidderminster as a Resident DJ and Events Organiser!

After working as an events manager he then started up a new online events called ‘theBIGmeetup’. This has become a massive success and is still now continuing the event and extending it further and bigger!
