DEVIN Biography
Language: EnglishDevin began his career in the electronic dance music industry in 1999 as a dj, but his love of music started many years earlier. In 1991, Devin took up the skill of percussion as a hobby, and soon realized his deep connection with rhythm and syncopation. Through years of diligence and hard work, Devin honed his skills as a drummer/percussionist, and had a hunger for bigger, better things. As the revolution of dance music progressed from the UK into the United States, Devin began to take interest.
Devins first exposure to dance music was through the tribal beats of deep house in late 1999. The transition from live percussionist to dj seemed to be the only natural progression. Devin began to saturate his life with every genre and aspect of the dance culture, from clubs to raves to house/warehouse parties, and even promotion and production. Through this process, Devin was exposed to many different styles of electronic dance music, but there were two in particular that he couldnt help but fall in love with. At a funky little underground trance party in the San Francisco Bay Area, the worlds of Nu-NRG and ProgressiveTribalWickedTrance opened wide for him to enjoy. Although he has toyed with candy trance, and does often play bangin progressive house, you will always find Devin most engaging and intriguing when playing his favorites. With an energetic approach to mixing, and a keen sense of crowd control, Devin is a marvel to watch and hear. It has been said that, Devin just flows. His programming is awesome and his energy is a force in and of itself to be reckoned with. Such creative mixing and a true connection with the dancers have rarely been seen, but never like this!
Creating such a tremendous vibe comes naturally to Devin, but the influences of so many other djs & producers helped to shape his approach to being a dj. The most influence has come from the likes of Donald Glaude, Gianni, Thomas Trouble, Sandra Collins, Moby, DJ Dan, Jerry Bonham & Mark Farina. The shaping and growing that Devin has done over the past year have gained him a reputation as one of the hottest up & coming djs in the bay area. He has already co-headlined with such greats as Dave Aude, Nuw Idol, Omar Santana, Gianni, Mars, Thomas Trouble and of course all the local heroes.
Devin is currently involved in a wide array of projects. He is working on producing his own tracks, as well as collaborating with other artists on their own creations. Devin is also heavily involved in promotions of events in the bay area, and has some spectacular surprises in store in the very near future. As always, Devin is in process of releasing his next CD or tape, so be on the lookout for his latest release!!!
