Bio – Abraham Porunobva

Born in 1984, Abraham Porunobva aka Dj Debboo.

My real name is ABRAHAM PORUNOBVA aka DJ DEBBOO the big spinner I’m the first born in a family of 2 children my young sisters Abie and big spinner. I was born 6 December 1984, two weeks before Christmas, in a city called Harare.

I moved to Bulawayo, the second capital city of Zimbabwe, at an early age. I attended primary school in Khami Primary School and I completed my high school in Gweru in a famous ghetto called Ascot. I was raised by my mother Sipiwe after my Farther passed away in 1994. I got into music at an early age, composed my 1st beats when I was about 10 years called “The Real Poams” which means “The Original Porunobva”. The Beat was inspired by friends Jahfire and FireKalonji in the ghetto hood Mkoba

Most of my inspiration came from my father David Porunobva Marecha who passed away in 1994. He was a Guitar player and he worked as a Guitarist with different kind of artist. When he passed away I started concentrating on making music in church, and formed a group called Poams Crew with my classmates in 2002, just after I completed high school. The group included Innocent Mapfumo aka Wyfeng, Nyasha Masaka aka Jahfire and myself

At this point, I knew my passion for music was growing day by day and Dj-ing loomed large in my life from the word go. Fooling around with just two CD players, learning how to beat match and playing at block parties and family birthday parties, my flair for music became a way of life!

I left Zimbabwe in 2002 for South Africa but I started visiting since 1997, with my mom. I started playing in SA clubs 2007 with my homeboy Dj Nyathi in various clubs around Rustenburg. Dj Nyathi got a contract with Mabaleng Sports Club and it becomes our home for house music from Thursday to Saturday. In 2008 I formed my record company Big-yard Records aiming to promote Zimbabwean music around the globe.

2008 the love for dancehall music blow my ears then I started mixing riddims after riddims getting the latest riddims from a friend in France
