DAMON KNAUSS
Biography
Language: EnglishDamon is no longer a touring DJ. However, he does occasionally play special events.
Damon was one of several DJ talents to emerge in New York City during the late 1990s. He and Serge Devant are considered by many to be the prodigies of the Twilo years. Under the management of Ed Greco and Touch Productions, Damon was rewarded with a coveted Friday night residency at Peter Gatien’s Limelight in 1999. During this residency, Damon developed a large New York City industry fan base.
After Limelight’s closing, Damon became a regular guest DJ at the Friday night Sexy party at the Roxy. At the Roxy, Damon regularly opened for Armin Van Buuren, Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, and Peter Rauhofer.
Reach Productions and District Entertainment brought Damon on for Centro-Fly Thursdays and he eventually was rewarded with his second New York City residency. At Centro-Fly, Damon developed his unique style of mixing deep progressive tech tribal house. Centro-Fly was voted the best club in the United States in 2003, and as a resident Damon had the opportunity to play with almost every major DJ in New York. The Centro-Fly years also allowed him to rub shoulders with the likes of John Digweed. Digweed was impressed with Damon’s mix CD Mood Train and took it back to England and played it on his Kiss 100 radio show guest mix.
After Centro-Fly, Damon followed the Reach, District, Touch, and Rush promotional teams to venues all over New York City. At this same time, Damon became the official DJ for Red Bull Energy Drinks and represented the company at many nightclubs and promotional events throughout the northeastern United States.
In 2004-05, Damon was awarded his third New York City residency at Temple. Damon was the VIP headlining DJ for the MTV Power Girls television show parties as well as Lizzie Grubman Public Relations. Also, during this time Damon played at New York City mega club Crobar where he opened with Serge Devant for Ferry Corsten.
In 2006-07, Damon played a series of loft parties in New York City while also playing consistently in Philadelphia with Deep Nights at venues like 3320 and The Social Club. Deep Nights chose Damon to open for Dean Coleman during his Apple Computers/Pioneer Pro DJ tour stop in Philadelphia.
On July 24, 2007, Damon played a packed loft party on the Upper East Side of New York with DJ Boris where he released his progressive tech remix of Energy 52’s Cafe Del Mar. That remix rose to the top of the Dance Billboard charts as a white label.
Damon has been hired by Armani Exchange, Diesel, Express, and Abercrombie & Fitch to produce mixed soundtracks for their retail stores.
Damon Knauss currently resides in Seoul, South Korea and works with the Seoul World DJ Festival.
