CHRIS WARD Biography

Language: English

Chris has been spinning discs since he was 11 years old, having bought his first set of decks with saved money. After two years of hard practice he joined the Dublin South Fm team where he filled in on a regular basis for Donna Lyons who was the Drivetime presenter there. Chris was also doing gigs left, right and center such as birthdays and the like!

After a family move to Co. Carlow he joined the Radio Kilkenny team where he did everything from production to Live OB’s. At this time he was still doing smaller gigs such as school discos in his school in Carlow and small promotion nights around Carlow for various events

A major break came in February 2003 for Chris with a residency in Neros nightclub in Kilkenny city on Friday nights. Soon he was moved to Saturday nights and currently plays ’’Circus’’ alongside Philip Cawley from Today Fm.

Following the closure of Radio Kilkenny on New Years eve 2003, Chris got 2 shows a week on the new radio station for Carlow / Kilkenny KCLR96fm. You can catch Chris every Friday and Sunday night from 9-11pm on KCLR 96fm.

In June 2003 Chris set up an independent radio station for Carlow clubbers. Force Fm 104.3 was broadcasting dance music of all sorts weird and wonderful to the Carlow town area. Chris presented a three hour dance show, five nights a week on Force, which had a huge listenership around Carlow.

Chris would regard himself as a Techno / House DJ but due to the lessening dance music scene in Ireland he rarely gets a chance to play what he really has a passion for, but as any good DJ would, you have got to be able to ‘’entertain and educate’’, and even if it takes a more commercial sound to fill dancefloors around Ireland, Chris is sure to be up for it!

Chris has played alongside Major names such as John Gibbons (Club Educate) and Warren K (Nova 94.7) and Donna Lyons (Nova 94.7)

Chris has had many guest slots around the country including Nova 94.7, Energy 94fm and a guest mix on John Power’s show which was part of the 6.2.6 sound on Saturday nights on 2fm. (never forget)

Chris is hoping to try and make some change to the clubbing scene in Ireland, and Club Educate / Vivid Vinyl will hopefully change that very soon.

Peace, Love and Good music always

DJ Chris Ward
