“Party on, Party Hard” says Charlie Singh. His name rings a musical bell for most of India’s party animals who recall this DJ each time they remember the best parties they ever attended. Popularly known as “DJ Charlie”, he has been spinning music in Chennai’s most posh night club called “Pasha” for the past three years bringing fun, entertainment and serious clubbing to the city.

Charlie has been around in the music circles for over ten years. He got his first break at “Someplace Else” at the Sheraton Hotel in Hong Kong. The gig was a huge success and since then, there has been no looking back for this music freak. His chosen style of music is Funky, Tribal and Progressive House and a bit of Lounge, Chillout and World music.

Charlie held residencies at “Planet 2000”, a premier night club of Chennai during 1999 – 2000, “Hell Freezes Over” and “EC 41”, both being famous night clubs of Chennai. The venues he has spun are widely regarded as amongst the best DJ bars / clubs / lounge bars in India. He has performed at fashion shows, for “Fashion TV” and for Prasad Bidappa (fashion choreographer from Bangalore). He enjoys doing theme parties and has done quite a few of them.

DJing alongside Cheb I Sabbah & Goa Gill (San Francisco, USA), Lee Coffey (UK), David Starfire/Dandelion (USA), Genetic Drugs(Germany), on their visits to India, Charlie has managed a huge fan following spanning from Hong Kong through to London! He has been noticed tearing the decks apart at ibar, The Club ( Bangalore ), Antoos, Club Cubana (Goa), Chess Board at the Park(Vizag), Touch( Hyderabad ) etc. Apart from mixing music, he also produces his own music, though not for public distribution. However, he does use his music while at work on his mixer and ready to rock! Currently, on the cards is his Asian/European tour as well as starting his own record label.

“Twisted” is the name of the club nights that Charlie has been promoting in Chennai. Held once a month, it draws club goers who swear by his music. The “Twisted” parties celebrate underground sound (house, tribal, progressive, trance…).

Charlie has a deep understanding of the technicalities of Sound and Light coordinated shows and the electronics involved in them.

The irrepressible enthusiasm behind the decks, tight mixing and quality choice of tunes should ensure that Charlie’s star stays firmly in the ascendant.

Charlie lives and breathes all forms of House music and his ultimate goal is to share this passion for good music with others. Give him a musically appreciative crowd, two decks, a mixer and a good sound system anywhere in the world, and he feels at home…
