Biography
Language: EnglishAfter ten years in the profession, Adrian Valenzuela better known as Canu is one of the most highly qualified among musicians and producers of House music in Argentina.
Born in Mar del Plata in the first 70’s, he grew up in a musical environment (his father plays bass in rock groups), influenced by artists such as David Bowie, Kraftwerk and The Cure -names which have survived through time, also among his preferences. As a teenager Canu integrated different bands, but it was in 1993 when he really began to stand out, with the formation of Altocamet.
As a vocalist, guitarist and programmer of the electronic pop quintet, he composed Pasion Descalza, track that can already be considered a classic. This track has traveled beyond geographic borders to be heard from the booths of the world in Hernan Cattaneo and Martin Garcia´s version, a remix released by Sinichi, Deep Dish´s label.
However, it was with Corriente de Aire (2001) his first solo work when he surprised as a producer of House music broad spectrum. Not only did this CD make people talk about him as one of the promises of the national electronic scope; it also made way for the alliance between his label, Estatus Discos, and Urabon Records from the US, to export his particular groove once again.
His versatility, also found at experimental levels, put him on stages and booths all over the country; there he presented his live act: sampler, guitar, sensitivity and eclecticism at the service of the dance floor. As to his international career, Canu has traveled with his classic and modern House catalogue to Miami for the Winter Music Conference 2002, he was part of the 13th Electronic Art Festival of San Pablo the same year, and he strengthened his bond with the Santiago de Chile public (specially at the La Feria presentations), to finally become a frequent guest at the neighbor capital. Furthermore, Canu became a feature at Creamfields Buenos Aires, in all its editions.
Recently, Indeleble (12") renewed the trays: three new tracks make up Canu’s solo debut with the vinyl format. Likewise, the EP is an unbeatable prelude to the release of his album Serie Dorada, also by Estatus, due for November 2004.
