Biography
Language: EnglishMusic has always been an essential part of Bryanâs life being born into a household where music was a great passion. Music for him was a form of escapism, a body used to channel thought. His passion for music grew from his early childhood influence, and during his adolescence Bryan decided to transform his passion into career. He began his pursue by working in several record shops, and through contacts he applied and landed a position as a organizational manager at TEMPO, one of the leading pioneers of rave party and dance music event organizers. In addition to being an organizational manager, Bryan was appointed as one of the residential DJs. Bryanâs three years in TEMPO provided him with the fundamental knowledge and experience of the music world. This encouraged Bryan and a fellow Malaysian DJ to set up a separate record and event company, and in year 2000 until now, EXCESSIVE RECORDS became one of the most renowned party organizers in Malaysia.
With sets best described as deep grooves built around a funky electro baseline with a tribal touch, Bryan has without doubt able to move the dance floor to an orgasmic crescendo. He is not only one of the most talked-about DJ in Malaysia, but has also been ranked highly in KLUE.COM DJ polls. Bryan has since played alongside BT, Dave Seaman, Steve Lawler, John Digweed, Paul Van Dyk , Circulation, Deep Dish , Lee Burridge, Sven Vath to name a few club land legends.
His boundless energy and active participation has been instrumental in creating and nurturing the scene in KL to what is now becoming one of the worldâs rising dance capitals. From organizing quality club nights and importing the worldâs best to DJ here, to bring up new talent, promoting non-DJ events like Malaysiaâs first acid jazz concert featuring Incognito and The James Taylor Quartet to his crowd-pulling DJ sets, Bryan is already a name recognized by both clubbers and industry insiders.
The seven years in the music business has been difficult but enjoyable. Through the years of experience not only has Bryanâs passion for music increased, but also his thrive for wanting more. His experience has provided him the foundation of confidence and knowledge essential for a greater challenge- to pursue for the career as an international DJ.
THE ORGANISERS
From its first inception as a humble record store back in 1999, Excessive Records today has grown to be one of the biggest and most respected event organizers in Malaysia. Founded by DJs Bryan and Callen, Excessive Records was originally established to cater to the growing number of DJs and dance music lovers in Malaysia but slowly progressed into the event management field when collaborated with TAC Promotions Singapore to organize American electronic prodigy BTâs first concert in Malaysia. The concert was a tremendous success, attracting more than 3,000 clubbers to a club relatively unguarded off and signaled the arrival of Excessive into the dance arena as an event organizer to be reckoned with. The coming months saw Excessive collaborating once again with TAC Promotions to organize one event after another including John Digweedâs unforgettable set which was voted as the Best Party for the year 2000.
Besides catering to the dance crowd, Excessive also established their presence among the local hip-hop community when they organized Malaysiaâs first Asian hip-hop concert and brought down controversial hip-hop act LMF (Lazy Mutha F**ka) from Hong Kong down to headline the event.
To date, Excessive Records have organized and produced some of the biggest events the Malaysian crowd has ever seen, with internationally renowned DJs and Live Acts gracing the decks and stages in Malaysia. As individuals, Bryan and Callen enjoy success as one of the most recognized and respected DJs in the clubbing scene and are often sought after by corporate clients such as Kent, Salem , Juice Magazine , Volvo, Nike, Heineken, Carlsberg, Sol, Tower Records, Juice Magazine and KLUE.COM.MY
